What IVF costs in Medellín in 2026 — per-cycle ranges, what's usually bundled, medications bought locally, PGT-A, donor eggs, egg freezing and the all-in trip.

The short version: a standard IVF cycle at a Medellín clinic is quoted at roughly $3,500–$6,500 in 2026. That's the number people search for, and it's also the least useful number on its own, because what's inside it changes from clinic to clinic. This article walks through each line so the quote you eventually get makes sense.

What "the cycle" usually includes

In Colombia the cycle fee typically covers monitoring ultrasounds during stimulation, the egg retrieval under sedation, the embryology lab work (fertilisation, culture to blastocyst), and one embryo transfer. Ask specifically about these five items, because they're the ones that move between "included" and "extra":

• ICSI. Often bundled in Colombia even when not strictly needed. In the US it's a $1,500–$2,500 add-on.
• Anaesthesia for retrieval. Usually inside the fee; occasionally itemised.
• Embryo freezing and first year of storage. Frequently included; ask what year two costs.
• The first frozen embryo transfer. If you're doing a freeze-all cycle (most international patients are), find out whether the FET is inside the price or a separate $1,000–$2,000.
• Pre-cycle testing. Infectious disease panel, updated hormones — sometimes bundled, often not.

Medications

This is the line with the widest spread and the biggest saving. In the US, stimulation medications commonly run $3,000–$8,000 per cycle. Bought in Medellín, the same classes of gonadotropins and antagonists cost a fraction — for most protocols expect somewhere around a quarter to a third of the US figure, and less again on a mini-stim protocol. Genetic testing

PGT-A (screening embryos for chromosome number) is priced per embryo or per batch and runs roughly $1,200–$4,000 in Colombia depending on how many embryos you test and whether the lab is in-house or samples are shipped. It's optional. Ask the clinic what their PGT-A policy is for your age band before you assume you need it.

Donor eggs and egg freezing

The whole trip

Put the trip on top of the clinic bill and a single-retrieval, split-trip plan for a US patient typically lands between $9,000 and $15,000 all in: flights for two, roughly eighteen nights of lodging across two visits, food, taxis, and a contingency line for a cancelled cycle or an extra scan. The equivalent at a US clinic, self-pay, is usually above $25,000 before you've left your own city.

How to read a quote

1. Ask for it itemised, in USD or COP with the rate stated.
2. Confirm the five "bundled or not" items above.
3. Ask what happens financially if the cycle is cancelled before retrieval (poor response) and after (no viable embryos).
4. Ask for the per-transfer live birth rate for your age band, from the clinic's own data, in writing.
